As part of the launch of the new Expert Programme in Digital Well-Being and Prevention in Adolescence and Youth, the University of Deusto will held a session on 27 March to help professionals in the educational, health and social sectors understand the challenges that hyperconnectivity poses for youth development and social interaction.
This initiative is part of the collaboration agreement signed between the University of Deusto and Atresmedia Foundation on 25 March at the audiovisual group’s headquarters, aimed at promoting the Expert programme and encouraging the safe and responsible use of technology in educational and community settings. In this context, Atresmedia Foundation will help broaden the programme’s reach by promoting it and facilitating student access through a scholarship scheme, in line with its commitment to fostering media, information and digital literacy skills across society.
Today, screens are no longer mere tools but environments where young people shape their identity and socialise. In response to this reality, the session “Digital well-being and mental health of adolescents and young people” aims to create a collaborative network while providing intervention tools to identify risk and protective factors in the digital environment to support adolescents and young people.
In this regard, key topics included the impact of the digital environment on psychological and social development, protective factors for balanced mental health online, and socio-educational intervention, providing strategies for prevention across different professional fields.
The session, which was attended both in person and online, was organised around two panel discussions and the “Escape Room” carried out by A90Grados on digital well-being, an innovative, practical activity for in-person participants, which explored prevention concepts through an immersive experience on the university campus.
The impact of intensive use of technology by adolescents and young people requires preventive approaches and professionals trained in detection, support, and socio-educational intervention. The aim of the new programme at the University of Deusto, in collaboration with Atresmedia Foundation, is to train these professionals to design and implement strategies for prevention, digital well-being and positive social interaction in educational and community settings, contributing to the creation of safer and more inclusive digital environments.
This online Expert Diploma is based on scientific evidence and regulatory frameworks that emphasise the need to promote a critical, responsible and healthy use of technology, positioning educational institutions and socio-educational and community actors as key agents in media literacy and the prevention of digital risks.
