RANKINGS

Monitoring, measuring, evaluating are all necessary conditions for progress. One of the most universal and standard instruments for assessing the quality of universities are the rankings, which provide information on results in teaching and research, sustainability, employability and social impact, among others.

Deusto wants to consolidate its presence in the top university rankings and improve its position in the major accreditations at international, national and Basque level. These rankings - in which the University's leadership is increasingly significant - are an endorsement of the work and day-to-day excellence of the entire university community. However, the main ranking for Deusto is social recognition and its transformative contribution to a fairer, more humane and sustainable world.

TIMES HIGHER EDUCATION Rankings

The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings are the only global performance ranking that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

In the 2024 edition of the THE Impact Rankings, the University of Deusto was ranked 94th in the world out of 1,026 participating institutions from 99 countries, and 1st in Spain for its performance in SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. It was also placed among the top 101–200 universities worldwide (out of 1,149 institutions from 107 countries) for SDG 8.

Deusto is a university recognised for its close collaboration with the business sector, its internship opportunities, and its focus on training ethical and responsible professionals. In line with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), it stands out for its strong commitment to quality education, employment, entrepreneurship, and engagement with economic and social stakeholders in the surrounding area. In addition, the ranking has especially recognised the University of Deusto’s contribution to making cities more inclusive and sustainable (SDG 11), highlighting its support for culture and heritage, as well as the implementation of policies across its campuses.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings provide a list of the world’s top universities. In the latest edition, published in September 2024, a total of 2,092 universities from 115 countries took part. The University of Deusto is positioned in the 1001-1200 bracket. Considering the total number of universities worldwide—more than 22,000—the University of Deusto ranks within the top 4% to 5% of universities globally.

This prestigious ranking uses 18 indicators across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry income, and international outlook. Among the indicators where the university has excelled most is the Research Environment, in which it ranks 14th among Spanish universities due to its scientific productivity, demonstrated by the robustness, excellence, and impact of its research.

It is the world’s first international university ranking to cover institutions across all of Europe, placing students’ needs at the centre, with a complete focus on teaching and learning, teaching excellence, and student success. The ranking uses a balanced scorecard approach, composed of 14 individual performance indicators that are combined to create an overall score reflecting the overall strength of an institution. These high-performance indicators are grouped into four areas: Engagement, Resources, Outcomes, and Environment.

The ranking examines key aspects such as student engagement in their studies, interaction with teaching staff, opportunities to develop skills, and perceptions of the quality of the institution’s services.

The 2019 edition included participation from 258 European institutions across 18 countries. The University of Deusto ranks between 126th and 150th in the overall classification.

In the subject-area rankings, the University of Deusto stands out in the Engagement category. In this area, the UD is in 25th place in the overall European ranking out of a total of 258 universities. Aspects analysed include commitment to student teaching and learning, and student satisfaction with factors such as the quality of education, learning resources, skills development, teaching quality, and links to the job market, among others.

The Shanghai Ranking evaluates 54 fields of knowledge or subjects arranged in 5 blocks: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences. In the Social Sciences block, specifically in "Business Administration", Deusto was ranked 301-400 out of a total of 400 universities evaluated (in this subject area) at a global level in 2021. As for its position on a national level, Deusto is ranked 6th out of the 12 Spanish universities listed in this category. This prestigious ranking is highly recognised in the university world and is one of the most influential when assessing the international renown of the various academic institutions.

The indicators measured in the ranking are mainly research indicators (research output, research influence-citations, publications in international collaboration, publications in the top most influential journals and international academic awards). Of the five total indicators measured by the ranking, Deusto Business School is very well positioned in two of them, ranking among the best business schools in: citations (3rd place among the 12 Spanish universities on the list) and publications in international collaboration (ranked 4th).

RANKING U-MULTIRANK

Es el primer ranking mundial de universidades elaborado por la Comisión Europea. U-Multirank recoge información sobre más de 2.200 universidades de 96 países, de las cuales 76 son españolas. Analiza a las universidades en cinco aspectos: enseñanza y aprendizaje, investigación, transferencia del conocimiento, orientación internacional y contribución al desarrollo regional.

En la edición 2022, a nivel Institucional, la Universidad de Deusto ha obtenido un total de 11 indicadores de máxima calificación “very good” y 11 indicadores con la calificación “good”. Entre los aspectos mejor valorados por el ranking está la creciente movilidad de estudiantes y la inversión en educación digital. También son calificados como excelentes la producción investigadora en acceso abierto, así como la transferencia de conocimiento y la relación con entidades y otras instituciones. Asimismo, Deusto destaca por el porcentaje de graduados de grado y máster que consiguen trabajar en su entorno geográfico cercano.

U-Multirank ha evaluado el ámbito de estudio de Ingeniería Informática, un área en la que Deusto se sitúa como la 5ª mejor universidad española y entre las 20 mejores universidades de la Unión Europea.

RANKING CYD

El ranking CyD de la Fundación Conocimiento y Desarrollo, es el mayor ranking de universidades españolas y ofrece resultados para  82 universidades, 30 ámbitos de conocimiento y 3.454 titulaciones. Se trata de un ranking multidimensional que agrupa 38 indicadores en torno a 5 dimensiones: enseñanza y aprendizaje, investigación, transferencia de conocimiento, orientación internacional y contribución al desarrollo regional.

En la edición 2025, la Universidad de Deusto se consolida como una de las diez mejores universidades del Estado y 1ª de la CAPV en indicadores de alto rendimiento, habiendo obtenido 21 indicadores de alto rendimiento de un total de 38 indicadores frente a los 11 de la primera edición de 2014.

  • En esta 12ª edición del ranking CyD, la Universidad de Deusto ha participado en el ámbito de Ingeniería Informática, siendo la 4ª mejor universidad española (de un total de 55 universidades evaluadas) y en 1ª de la CAPV en estos estudios.
  • En la 11ª Edición Trabajo Social situándose como 2ª mejor española en este ámbito.

Other rankings

U-Ranking, developed collaboratively by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE), is a key element of a joint programme aimed at documenting and analysing the role of knowledge in social and economic development. Based on Synthetic Indicators of the Spanish University System, the ranking provides comparative information and ranks universities according to both the volume of their results and their productivity, overall as well as in the areas of Teaching, and Research and Innovation. In the latest 2024 edition, U-Ranking included 70 universities (48 public and 22 private).

The University of Deusto’s results in this edition were as follows: Group 5 in the overall ranking, 3rd in teaching, and 8th in research and innovation.

The “Universities and Law Firms” report, published by El Confidencial in 2025, identifies the universities and business schools most preferred by major firms for recruiting talent. Deusto ranks in the top 7 for the law degree and in the top 10 for the Master’s in Law and Legal Practice, based on the number of graduates beginning their training at major law firms that year.

The Haz Foundation publishes the ‘Transparency Review’ Report annually. The aim of this report is to assess the extent to which Spanish universities disclose information about their core activities and outcomes on their websites. It evaluates four key factors: visibility, accessibility, timeliness, and comprehensiveness.

In the most recent report, published in 2024, the University of Deusto demonstrated strong compliance with the evaluated indicators.VIEW REPORT. 

The 2022 edition of the Financial Times (FT) ranking, which recognises the world’s top 100 Masters in Management (MiM) programmes, has included for the first time the European & International Business Management (EIBM) Master’s degree from Deusto Business School. This programme is a joint degree offered in partnership with Audencia Business School (France) and the University of Bradford (United Kingdom).

The EIBM Master’s programme ranked 45th worldwide, making it the second highest-ranked among the programmes included in the ranking for the first time.

The FT ranking selects and ranks Masters programmes by evaluating their faculty, graduates’ career progression, the quality of the learning experience, among other factors. Among the aspects of the EIBM programme most highly rated by the Financial Times are career progression (4th best position worldwide); the international experience offered by the programme (17th in the ranking); international job mobility (26th); and the high participant satisfaction, with an average score of 8.95 out of 10.

The EIBM is a collaborative inter-university programme that began in 1990 as the European Management Programme (EMP) and has been running continuously for 32 years, with around 1,100 graduates from over 50 different nationalities.

This is the first participation of the EIBM in the FT ranking, as it is a mandatory requirement to have international accreditations; an achievement obtained by Deusto Business School in 2021, the year in which it obtained the seals of AMBA and AACSB. Audencia and the University of Bradford also hold these two accreditations, placing the three business schools collaborating on this programme among the top 2% worldwide.

Published by El Economista in 2022, this ranking analyses over one hundred educational institutions in Ibero-America, assessing their digitalisation and ability to adapt to this new reality. It also presents its “Top 50” list for educational innovation in the region. The University of Deusto ranks among the top 25 most digital and innovative universities in Ibero-America.

The evaluated indicators are based on aspects such as the innovation universities have applied to their teaching methods, digital transformation, technological capabilities, and a curriculum focused on the 4th Industrial Revolution.

This report was prepared by the BBVA Foundation and the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE) in 2018. The study analyses four groups of variables determining graduates’ employment outcomes, based on the National Statistics Institute’s (INE) 2016 Graduate Employment Survey (EILU): education received, personal characteristics, job search methods, and environmental influences.

Deusto was ranked as the 4th best university to study Law by Economist & Jurist magazine, out of a total of 51 universities. This ranking is based on the academic and professional preparation students receive, as well as the high proportion of graduates who enter the legal profession shortly after graduating.

The selection was made based on data from the CYD Foundation Ranking 2022, taking into account the standard graduation rate, completion rate, success rate, the rate of permanent contracts one year after graduation, and the employment rate one year after obtaining their degree.

  • Deusto Business School ranks 60th worldwide in the Financial Times Executive Education Custom 2025 ranking. It is the fourth best Spanish school in this ranking. The ranking evaluates factors such as overall client company satisfaction, the international reach of the programmes, ongoing support provided to companies during and after the programmes, and the achievement of objectives and expectations.

International accreditations

Deusto Business School at the University of Deusto has obtained the prestigious accreditation of the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), an international organisation that recognises the best business schools in the world. Only six Spanish institutions and 6% of the world's business schools have received this 'seal' that accredits quality and excellence in management education. Founded in 1916, the AACSB is the world's oldest business school accreditation body.

With this recognition, Deusto Business School demonstrates that it has achieved excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development and student learning.

Deusto Business School has obtained the AMBA (Association of MBAs) accreditation, placing it among the top 2% of schools in the world.
