The University of Deusto reaffirms its commitment to the 2030 Agenda in the 2026 edition of the THE Impact Rankings, published by Times Higher Education. In this edition of the ranking, which assesses the contribution made by higher education institutions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Deusto achieved an overall score of 70.7 out of 100, placing it in the 401–600 band worldwide among a total of 1,603 institutions evaluated.
At an institutional level, the University has been actively involved in the assessment of a total of five SDGs: SDG 5 – Gender Equality; SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth; SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions; and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, reflecting the University’s social, environmental and governance impact through an educational and management model aligned with today’s global challenges.
In SDG 5 – Gender Equality, the University ranks 50th in the world (out of a total of 1,095 institutions) with a score of 71.4 points. This result reflects the University’s strong performance in gender-related research (with a score of 87.4) and institutional representation, as evidenced by the high proportion of women holding senior academic positions (83.4%). The University also received strong scores for measures supporting student access and success (80.6%), as well as for the proportion of women who are first-generation university students (53.7%).
Positioning in Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)
longside its strong performance in Gender Equality, Deusto ranks in the 101–200 band worldwide for SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, out of 914 universities assessed, with an overall score of 68.1. This result reflects the quality of its university governance (74.1), the volume and impact of its research in this field (71.6), and the proportion of graduates pursuing careers in law and legal security-related fields (70.8%).
According to the Rector of the University of Deusto, these results “confirm the strength of the institution’s educational model and endorse the work carried out in key areas such as teaching excellence, internationalisation and engagement with the socio-economic environment”. These milestones not only validate the current performance, but also provide a strategic foundation for further promoting knowledge transfer and innovation within the university system.
