The first round was for graduates in Euskal Hizkuntza eta Kultura, Euskal Hizkuntza eta Kultura and Modern Languages, English Studies, Modern Languages, Modern Languages and Management, International Relations, International Relations + Law; the second round was for graduates in Social Education + Social Work, Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Social Work and Tourism belonging to the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Faculty of Education and Sport and Deusto Law School at the University of Deusto corresponding to the 22-23 graduating class.
The first round of the solemn graduation ceremony for the new graduates began at 10:00 a.m., presided over by Ane Ferran (Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences), Gema Tomás (Dean of Deusto Law School) and Isabel Ariceta (Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport). Other participants included: Joxin Etxezarreta (Ombudsman), Isabel Parrondo (Secretary of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences) and the students who pronounced the University’s Oath in Basque, Spanish and English: Eider Egaña (Euskal Hizkuntza eta Kultura and Modern Languages English Studies), Leire Gojenuri (Modern Languages), Juan Yusta Ramírez de Ocáriz (International Relations + Law) and Cynthia Gálvez (Modern Languages and Management) as standard bearer. In addition, Leire Gojenuri said a few words on behalf of her classmates.
The second round, which began at 12:45 p.m., chaired by Ane Ferran (Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences) and Isabel Ariceta (Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport) was attended, among others, by: Isabel Parrondo (Secretary of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences) and the students who pronounced the University’s Oath in Basque, Spanish and English: Eider Olaeta (Social Work), Pablo Lasa (Tourism), Sara Balugo (Social Education + Social Work) and Josu Iriarte (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) as standard bearer.
Both rounds were held in the presence of the teaching staff and family members who accompanied the students. They began with the Agur Jaunak, performed by the Polyphonic Music Association Choir "Ars Canticum Ensemble", who also sang the Gaudeamus Igitur at the end of the ceremony.
On the other hand, at 11:45 a.m., Juan Mª Velasco s.j., officiated the Mass in the Gothic Chapel accompanied, once again, by the Polyphonic Music Association Choir "Ars Canticum Ensemble".
In this way, the new graduates share a day of celebration with their families, and the University is pleased to see its mission of service to the faith, through its service to science and culture, come to fruition.
