Coinciding with International Human Rights Day, the Institute yesterday opened the photographic exhibition “From within: 14 views, this is what we see”, a creative project developed by adolescents and young people from racialised minorities in Biscay.
The opening featured contributions from Gorka Urrutia, Director of the Institute, Paulina Rojas, social worker and one of the project leads, and Bilal, one of the young authors of the photographs, who spoke on behalf of the group.

In his remarks, Gorka highlighted the symbolic value of opening this exhibition on such a meaningful day, emphasising “the importance of creating spaces where new generations can express themselves freely and build their own narratives, broadening our understanding of diversity and human rights”.

Paulina explained the four-month process through which the young participants learnt to use photography as a creative, social and self-reflective tool.

The exhibition brings together 15 images that reflect the perspectives, concerns and experiences of the group. The project was produced by Kulturbegi, in collaboration with ACPP and Koop SF34, and sponsored by the Provincial Council of Biscay and the Basque Agency for Cooperation and Solidarity – Elankidetza.

Through initiatives such as this, the Institute of Human Rights reaffirms its commitment to promoting cultural diversity, encouraging youth participation and defending human rights through education and social awareness.

The exhibition can be visited in the Cloister of the University of Deusto Auditorium until 17 December.
