University Interdisciplinary Institute

Since 1989

The Deusto Institute of Drug Dependencies works in a specific area of knowledge: drugs and addictions. It is a university institute because it was formally created in 1989, with the mission of bringing together the training, research and advice that the University of Deusto carried out in the field of drug addiction.

It became the first university institute founded for the purpose of training and retraining of practising professionals and drug research. It is an interdisciplinary institute because the phenomenon of drug addiction is itself interdisciplinary and its treatment and resolution is tackled through the various disciplines and areas of knowledge in which the University works. This is why we also address areas related to the drug phenomenon.

Publications

From its inception, the IDD set itself the important task of publishing studies or books related to drug addiction. The aim was to provide a university-style service to those interested in the subject of drug addiction from any point of view.

As a result of this concern, from 1992 to the present day, several collected works have been published, which have been well received by professionals.
