Ceremonial Hall Cloister
On 13 May, the University of Deusto hosted the live broadcast of Onda Cero’s programme “Más de uno en Euskadi”. This radio programme, presented by Roberto Forcen, focused on analysing the challenges facing the younger generations, ranging from digital safety to physical health and health and social care education.
The programme began with an opening address by Álvaro de la Rica, Vice-Rector for Academic Organisation and Digital Transformation. In his remarks, he reviewed the academic year now coming to a close and looked ahead to the next, in which Deusto will celebrate its 140th anniversary.
Innovation in Digital Well-Being
The main focus of this special edition was the launch of the new qualification, "Expert Diploma in Digital Well-Being and Prevention in Adolescence and Youth", developed jointly by the Atresmedia Foundation and the University of Deusto. To explore this initiative in greater depth, the programme featured Isabel Rubio, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport; Marta Ruiz-Narezo, Director of the new academic programme; and Susana Gato, Deputy Director of the Atresmedia Foundation.
During the debate, the need to support young people in a complex digital environment was highlighted, equipping professionals with the tools to promote the responsible use of technology and tackle issues such as cyberbullying and screen addiction.
A comprehensive prevention ecosystem
The University was presented as an ecosystem that seeks to respond to social challenges through prevention. This section featured Álvaro Moro, Director of the Deusto Institute of Drug Dependencies, and Erlantz Velasco, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Education and Sport.
Health milestones and academic future
The second part of the programme highlighted the healthcare sector, featuring contributions from Karmele Araujo, Head of the Nursing Department, and Rodrigo García, Head of the Department of Medicine. Both emphasised the strategic importance of the first cohorts of graduates in these disciplines for strengthening the healthcare system.
Finally, looking ahead to the coming academic year, Borja Aldazabal and Larraitz Elorriaga from the New Students Office highlighted the importance of the Open Day, which will take place on Saturday 30 May. At this event, families will be able to find out about the academic programmes on offer for the 2027–28 academic year, which will include new double degree programmes.
