Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of the Basque Country in 2009 and completed her residency in Neurology (MIR program) at Donostia University Hospital. She currently works as a consultant neurologist in the Neurology Department at Donostia Hospital, specifically in the inpatient ward and stroke unit. She is co-leader of the Stroke group at the Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Deusto, and is a lecturer in the Neurovascular Specialist Diploma program at the University Autonoma of Madrid. She participates in clinical trials in the stroke field, is the author of several high-impact research articles, and serves on the editorial board of the journal Neurology Perspectives. Her main line of research focuses on identifying pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the response to recanalization therapies in acute stroke. She has a particular interest in rare cerebrovascular diseases, such as cerebral cavernomatosis and CADASIL. She has received competitive funding as principal investigator for three regional projects and collaborates as a researcher in a national project. She is actively involved in the RICORS- Stroke and NORDICTUS research networks.
