I have over 19 years of experience in the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and robotics industry. Throughout this time, I have successfully designed, developed, and implemented intelligent systems ranging from Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to fully automated vehicles. My passion lies in solving complex challenges related to system design and implementation, and I am deeply committed to driving projects to successful completion. I began my career at CSIC in Spain, where I spent five years working within the AUTOPIA program for autonomous vehicles. I earned my Ph.D. in 2012, focusing on the integration of control systems for automated and autonomous driving across multiple platforms. This work enabled the development of both individual and cooperative maneuvers in urban and highway environments. I also participated in the first European competition, the Grand Cooperative Driving Challenge, in 2011, and contributed to the first Spanish demonstration of autonomous vehicles in 2012. Later, I joined INRIA in France, where from 2012 to 2015 I led more than 10 EU and national projects demonstrating various ADAS technologies. From 2016 to 2022, I headed the Automated Driving research team, composed of 15 researchers. Between 2022 and 2024, I served as the technological lead for the Mobility area within the Industry and Mobility Unit at TECNALIA. I have recently taken on a new role as Principal Researcher and Director of the Transport and Sustainable Mobility Group at the CEIT Technology Center. Since 2022, I have also been a professor at the University of Deusto, where I teach in the Master's program in robotics, covering topics such as robotics, industrial communications, and computer architecture. I have authored over 200 publications related to ITS, CCAM, Automated Driving, ADAS, cooperative maneuvers, and Fuzzy Logic. Additionally, I co-supervise eight Ph.D. theses at UPV in Spain and École des Mines in France, focusing on connected and automated driving as well as electric vehicles.
