Call for proposals
To support the research and teaching training of doctoral students through predoctoral contracts of up to 4 years, as well as providing funding for research stays and doctoral tuition fees.
Key dates
- Candidate's application: 20 October -12 November 2026, 2:00 pm
- Submission by the host institution: 20 octubre - 20 November 2026, 2:00 pm
- Provisional decision: June 2027
- Contract signing and start date: October 2027
Who submits the application?
- The candidate completes their part of the application.
- The R&D centre is the beneficiary entity and must complete, validate, sign and submit the application.
Important changes
- A specific completion date for previous studies is no longer required.
- Candidates do not need to be already enrolled in a doctoral programme at the time of application.
- It is sufficient to have been admitted to the doctoral programme or to be eligible for admission at the time the contract is formalised.
- It is necessary to have a confirmed research group in order to submit the application.
- Research groups/teams at the University of Deusto
- The University Academic Committee certificate is no longer required.
- The evaluation of the training project report is no longer required.
Evaluation
The evaluation process has changed compared and is now based on a total of 100 points: 75 + 25.
- 75 points: the candidate's academic record, with a minimum threshold of 60 points.
- 25 points: the scientific and technical quality and track record of the team in which the grant will be carried out:
- 10 points for the thesis supervisor's track record.
- 15 points for the scientific, technical and training environment of the research group.
Documentation and new features
The candidate must upload/attach the following documents to the application:
- CVA of the thesis supervisor.
- Description of the scientific, technical and training environment of the research team.
- Academic transcript/certificate for the degree(s).
- For foreign degrees, a statement of equivalence of the average grade.

Funding
- Predoctoral contract: €32,500 €/year (salary + Social Security contributions)
- End-of-contract compensation: €3,350
- Research stays + doctoral tuition fees: €10,000
- Total: €143,350
Teaching
The beneficiary must complete a minimum of 90 hours of university teaching. The 2026 call also introduces the possibility of carrying out these teaching activities in Master's programmes, and not only at undergraduate level.
Postdoctoral Orientation Period (POP)
The grant includes a Postdoctoral Orientation Period (POP) of up to 12 months, within the 4-year duration of the grant, provided that the beneficiary obtains their PhD during the implementation period.
