Last Thursday, 23 October, the Auditorium of the University of Deusto hosted the first Seminar of the Chair in Public Procurement Law of Deusto Law School and Cuatrecasas, entitled “Integrity and transparency in public procurement: future challenges”.
Our speakers examined integrity as a guiding principle of public procurement through the various control mechanisms provided by our regulations to prevent conflicts of interest, fraud, and potentially collusive practices. From a criminal law perspective, the session examined the various offences against public administration and their preventive and punitive implications for the actions of public authorities and legal practitioners.
The speakers agreed on the importance of education and public awareness as tools for the prevention of procurement fraud.
