The International Research Project Office (IRPO) at the University of Deusto has organised in March two training sessions on the IX Funding Framework of the EU, known as Horizon Europe, with the aim of providing Deusto researchers with specific skills and competences that will enable them to write a successful and competitive project proposal.
Catherine Halbert, with an extensive experience in research and innovation funding programs and external evaluator of the UE, delivered the two training sessions. The first one, held on March 9th, was focused on presenting the current funding program while the latter took place on March 16th where she shared practical insights for searching and analysing research calls as well as for writing project proposals.
Around 50 researchers of the University of Deusto participated in both sessions, virtually or in person, being trained on:
- Principles and foundations of the Horizon Europe Funding Programme 2021-27.
- How to analyse the topics of the calls.
- Steps to plan a Horizon Europe Proposal.
- How to write a successful project proposal and
- The evaluation processes. Common shortcomings identified by the evaluators
After each training session, every participant received a questionnaire in order to give feedback on the 5 key aspects regarding the training, as follows: 1) the information delivered, 2) the duration of the course,3) the content of the training sessions, 4) the trainers’ performance in delivering the topics and finally, 5) the overall degree of satisfaction with the courses received.
Respondents to the questionnaires, in general, agreed that the training workshops were highly satisfactory, providing, in this sense, to the International Research Project Office (IRPO) with information to recognize the great interest expressed by the researchers to receive this kind of seminars on international funding programmes. Furthermore, IRPO has had the opportunity to identify both areas which needed to be improved as well as new topics for future seminars such as how to communicate and disseminate research results, among others.
These training sessions, like the previous workshop on how to Manage the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), are part of the training programme organised to promote international research at the University of Deusto.
