Members of the DIVERPOMU team took part on 25 and 26 November 2025 in the annual meeting of the Municipalities for Tolerance Programme (MxT) and in the seminar organised within the framework of the RETO project, also linked to the MxT programme. Municipalities for Tolerance is an initiative of the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation which, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and with the support of the Human Rights Institute, aims to assist local governments in managing religious diversity in a democratic, inclusive, and plural manner.
The seminar, “Local management of religious diversity: European lessons and challenges in Spain,” organised by FEMP and the Pluralism and Coexistence Foundation, featured a presentation by Gorka Urrutia, a member of the team. The presentation, titled “What Europe teaches: models and experiences of local management of religious diversity,” outlined some findings from a study collecting information on how the management of religious diversity is implemented in 15 European countries.
