The University of Deusto is hosting the 2nd International Meeting of the Deusto-Biscay Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Network (RIEG) from 10 to 14 November, an initiative that strengthens ties between Biscay and Latin America to attract STEM talent and promote collaboration between universities and companies.
The institutional opening of the meeting will take place on Thursday, 13 November, at 16:00 in the University of Deusto’s Ceremonial Hall, with the participation of Latin American universities, as well as institutions and companies from Biscay that make this project possible.
Led by the University of Deusto with the support of the Provincial Council of Biscay through “Bizkaia with the Talent,” and in collaboration with the AUSJAL Network (Association of Jesuit Universities in Latin America), the network aims to promote innovation, knowledge transfer, and international cooperation through talent exchange.
The meeting will include the participation of the University of Deusto’s Rector, Juan José Etxeberria; the Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Garbiñe Henry; and the Director of the Unit for Relations with Economic and Social Agents, María Lambarri. The event will also feature a roundtable with RIEG stakeholders—Latin American universities, company representatives, and participants—featuring Luis Jorge Lepez, Coordinator of the Entrepreneurship and Business Dynamics Programme at ITESO, the Jesuit University of Guadalajara; Octavio Di Marco, a RIEG 2025 participant (Argentina) on a dual placement at NWorld; Txetxu Arzuaga, Technical Director at Alba Emission Free Energy; and Iker Pastor, Vice-Dean of International Relations at the University of Deusto’s Faculty of Engineering.
The day will conclude with a recognition of the Latin American universities, presented by Mary José Aranguren, Vice-Rector of the San Sebastian Campus and Institutional Relations at Deusto, followed by the closing of the event by Ainara Basurko, Provincial Deputy for Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Biscay.
