Statement from the University of Deusto

In response to the gathering called for this afternoon, Monday, 26 October 2026, outside its Bilbao campus, the University of Deusto wishes to clarify that the event is unrelated to the institution. The University has neither organised nor endorsed it, and has not authorised it to take place within the university grounds.

Since becoming aware of the planned gathering, the University has maintained ongoing coordination with the Ertzaintza. Following its guidance and in order to protect the safety of the university community, the University has decided to suspend all activities at the Bilbao campus from 14:00 and close the campus as a precaution at 15:00.

The University rejects actions and messages that undermine peaceful coexistence or incite violence. They are incompatible with our commitment to respect for others and to building a pluralistic society based on respectful dialogue and rigorous debate, in an environment of freedom and safety.

The University regrets any inconvenience this exceptional measure may cause and thanks the entire university community for its understanding and cooperation.
