The club will have two levels, one for beginners and the other more advanced depending on the needs of each person. We have a specialised instructor who will accompany the beginners' group on their outings and advise the advanced level members.

The sports facilities may be used in accordance with the following regulations:

• All students enrolled in the current academic year on undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Deusto’s Faculties or Institutes must show proof of status with either their University of Deusto identity card or national ID card and their enrolment receipt.
• Academic and non-academic staff, who must provide proof of their current status at the University of Deusto.
• All the residents at Deusto Hall of Residence. To this purpose, at the beginning of each academic year, the Deusto Hall of Residence will submit a list of residents to the Sports Department including non-Deusto students.
• To benefit from the Alumni discount, all facility users must have a membership card and present it.
• Users who are non-members of the University of Deusto must pay €8 per person to access the sports facilities.
• Non-UD members must pay the full fee for facility use.
• Payment must always be made through the following link and the payment receipt generated must be shown at the Xabier Kirolgunea checkpoint before using the space.

• Sports facilities can be booked Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 20:00, except on public holidays in the academic calendar, and from 1 September to 30 June. In July, bookings can be made Monday to Friday from8:00 to 14:00.
• Users with "@opendeusto" and "@deusto" accounts must book through booking.deusto.es.
• External users must request a booking by writing to deportes@deusto.es

• Sports facilities are university spaces and users should behave accordingly. Users are expected to respect other users, facilities and rules, and fair play must prevail at all times.
• Facilities can be used for 1 or 2 hours.
• A minimum number of participants is required per booking: 7-a-side football pitch: 10 people; Courts 1 and 2: 8 people; Court 3: 4 people.
• Before using the facility, users must go to the office located within the sports centre to complete their identification.
• Users must carry their identification card when entering and while in the facilities, as it may be requested at any time.
• Suitable sports clothing must be worn at all times in the sports facilities.
• It is strictly forbidden to leave the changing room lockers locked once you leave the facilities. For security reasons, all lockers will be emptied at night; any personal belongings will be kept at reception for 15 days.
• The person making the reservation will be responsible for the access of non-UD members to the facilities. You will be responsible for their identification and you will be required to show proof of payment of your guests.
• The repeated misuse of the facilities or any inadequate behaviour by users are grounds to deny use of the facilities.
• The group’s representative will be required to present his/her identification card before any sports equipment (balls, protectors, subject to availability) can be provided. ID cards will be given back when the sports equipment has been returned.
• Smoking or eating is not allowed in any part of the sports premises.
• Electronic scoreboards will only be used in official competitions.
• Basketball hoops will be exclusively handled by the facility’s staff.
• The University of Deusto does not accept any responsibility for accident, damage or injury that may occur to users of the facilities.
• Fines and sanctions will be applied in accordance with the Student Regulations of the University of Deusto dated 24 July 2015.

In competitive sport, the University has teams that take part in both federated and university competitions at provincial, regional and national level. All students enrolled in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd cycle at any of our University’s faculties can participate in the teams. Registration is open until late October.

We have men's handball, men's and women's basketball, men's roller hockey and women’s volleyball teams. If you would like to join one of the teams, you can obtain further information from the Sports Department, located in the Main Building, second cloister. 

PARTICIPANTS

Those who meet the following requirements may take part in the Spanish University Championships:

• They must be enrolled in any of the three official academic cycles: Bachelor’s, Master's and PhD degrees that are officially recognised and valid throughout Spain.
• Individual/pair sports: Participants must be registered with the relevant sports federation and meet any minimum qualification requirements set by the Championship, where applicable. 
• Team sports: Teams must win the Basque Country Championship and be formed with at least 70% of their members registered as federated athletes in that sport. All teams must pass a qualifying round to go on to the Spanish Championship; if this does not happen, they will not be able to participate.
• Participation in the internal tournaments organised by the University, as well as representing the University in the Basque Country University Sports Championship, will be positively valued and will influence the final decision if more than one person or pair applies for a place in the same discipline.
• They must meet the technical requirements established by the University of Deusto Sports Department.
• International Championships: Eligibility for international competitions will be governed by the same criteria of excellence and technical requirements as the Spanish Championships, with participation contingent upon the merits and results achieved in the national phase.

CALENDAR

Calendars will be annually regulated according to the organising Universities and the relevant Spanish Federations. Academic calendars, exam dates and affiliated competition dates will be taken into account. The sports offered last year were:  Chess, athletics, badminton, cross country, climbing, fencing, golf, judo, karate, swimming, orienteering, paddle tennis, rowing, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, archery, triathlon, sailing, horse riding, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's handball, men's football, men's and women's football, men's and women's rugby, men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's beach volleyball and men's water polo.
