mauro.a.t@deusto.esMauro Aguilera Toste (Tenerife) is a PhD student in Health Sciences at DeustoMED (DeustoBIO) in collaboration with the Precision Medicine and Metabolism laboratory at CIC bioGUNE, where he researches the structural and biophysical bases of the CHCHD10–TDP-43 interaction in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He holds a Master's Degree in Genetics and Genomics from the University of Barcelona (2023), specialising in developmental genetics. He graduated in Biotechnology (2022) from the University of Granada and the University of Almería (combining his studies with high-performance sports as a semi-professional player for U.D. Almería), with international education at the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal (ERASMUS Portugal) and a mention in BioHealth. He has developed his experience at IDIBAPS, ONA Therapeutics, the University of Barcelona, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, GENyO and the Canary Islands Laboratory Network, focusing his work on haematological neoplasms, gene regulation, stem cells and cellular models of disease, and currently, trying to understand the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration.
