JAVIER DEL CORTE LÓPEZ holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law with a specialization in Business Management from the CEU San Pablo Foundation and the University of Alcalá de Henares. He obtained a Diploma de Estudios Avanzados (DEA) and research proficiency in Public International Law and International Relations from the University of the Basque Country (UPV). Javier has practiced law for nearly twenty-five years in leading law firms, specializing in contentious matters before courts and arbitral tribunals at all levels, in both civil and commercial disputes as well as international controversies. He has extensive experience advising companies in the maritime, transport, and logistics sectors, together with their insurers, including cases involving maritime casualties and accidents. In 2022, he entered the judiciary as a Senior Judge through the special admission system for highly qualified legal professionals. From 2003 to 2010, he served as a part-time Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of the Basque Country, teaching Public International Law and EU Institutions, and he is co-author of several works on Maritime Law.
