David Fernández-Rojo is a researcher and associate professor at the University of Deusto. He currently teaches Basic Principles of Law, International Organizations, Public International Law and Mooting Skills. David's research focuses on the European Area of Freedom, Security and Justice and the Common Security and Defence Policy. He is particularly interested in the impact of EU decentralised agency operations on the effective and uniform national implementation of EU migration, asylum and border management policies, as well as EU maritime security missions. David has completed postdoctoral fellowships at Università degli Studi di Ferrara (Italy), Singapore Management University (Singapore), Toyo University (Tokyo), the Barcelona Institute of International Studies (IBEI) and the University of Zurich, as well as predoctoral fellowships in the USA (Washington College of Law and Georgetown Law Center) and the Netherlands (Utrecht University, RENFORCE). He has one six-year research term recognized by the Spanish Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI), accreditation as a "University Professor" by the Spanish Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and is the leading researcher of a Knowledge Generation Project entitled "Emerging Technologies and Migration Governance in the EU, TECHMIGOV" (2025-2029).
