GEMA TOMÁS MARTÍNEZ is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Deusto, where she teaches at the Bilbao campus in subjects such as Roman Law and Civil Law. She has also taught as a visiting Professor at various Universities such as the University of Bayreuth (Germany), Riga (Latvia) and Chile. She supervises several doctoral theses in the Doctoral Programme of Economic and Business Law and her research interests are contract law and European law. He has participated in numerous research projects as well as in several international academic networks such as Common Core of European Private Law in which he has been National Reporter in Remedies in Contract Law and Interpretation of Commercial Contracts. She has two sexenios recognised by the National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity (CNEAI). She has held various positions such as Dean of the Faculty of Law (2015-2024); Director of the Department of Civil Law (2007-2015); Director of the School of Legal Practice (2009-2014). She has been an alternate judge of the Provincial Court of Bizkaia (1999-2002) and Legal Counsel of the University Legal Service (2004-2015). She is currently President of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA), which brings together more than 180 law faculties, especially from Europe, and other visiting universities.
