She holds a PhD in Leisure and Human Development from the University of Deusto, a degree in Pedagogy, and a master's degree in Leisure Project Management. Since 2022, she has been the director of the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto. Accredited by the Basque University System Quality Agency (UNIBASQUE) as a Doctoral Researcher, she has three six-year periods of research accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). She is a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto. She lectures in the Social Work and Social Education degree programmes, as well as in the double degree programme in Social Work and Social Education, where she lectures in Social Policy and the Welfare State and Analysis of Social Reality. She is a member of the faculty of several official postgraduate programmes, as well as the Doctorate programme in Leisure, Culture and Communication at the University of Deusto, where she has supervised seven doctoral theses. She has been a visiting professor at several universities in Latin America (Honduras, Ecuador, Brazil, Uruguay, etc.). From 2014 to 2022, she was director of the Master's Degree in Leisure Project Management. Since 2000, she has been a member of the Leisure and Human Development research team at the University of Deusto, forming part of the official group of the Basque University System since its establishment in 2009. She has participated in more than 100 research projects, contributing to more than 70 scientific articles and high-impact chapters related to her lines of research. Her academic work and scientific output focus on the topics of leisure, youth development, well-being, community participation, social exclusion and community action.
