Postdoctoral Programme of the Basque Government 2026-2029
The Basque Government annually publishes its Postdoctoral Programme aimed at the improvement of doctoral research staff in application centers in the Basque Country and travel abroad for 2 years renewable up to a maximum of 60 months (5 years).
- 1st phase: during the first 24 months (years 1 and 2) the researcher moves to a research center abroad in order to carry out a research project.
- 2nd phase: during year 3 the researcher joins a group at the University of Deusto.
- 3rd phase: in case of renewal, the researcher may continue for a maximum of 2 more years (years 4 and 5) under contract at the University of Deusto.
Application period:
- Starting date: Friday, 20 June 2026
- End date: Monday, 20 July 2026
Requirements:
1 . Be registered (“empadronada”) in a municipality of the Basque Country (CAPV):
- a) In the case of General Research grants: at least since 1 January 2022
- b) In the case of Specific Research grants: at least since 1 January 2026.
2. For non-EU residents, you must have a residence permit with authorization to work.
3. Be in possession of a PhD, and whose date of acquisition is January 1, 2022 or later.
