The Tokyo Foundation, through its Sylff Fellowship Programme (Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship Fund), supports the development of doctoral students at the University of Deusto who demonstrate strong potential for future leadership in international affairs. The programme seeks to nurture individuals capable of transcending geopolitical, religious, ethnic, and cultural boundaries—whether in the public or private sector—and encourages active engagement in promoting peace and human well-being.
These fellowships are designed for PhD candidates at the University of Deusto who show leadership potential in global and social issues and whose research focuses on the following areas:
- Human Rights
- Political action
- Social development
- Humanitarian development
More than an academic initiative, the programme is explicitly oriented toward cultivating future leaders who can make a meaningful impact on society and international affairs.
Eligibility – New applicants
Doctoral candidates whose research focuses on Human Rights, Political Action, Social Development, and/or Humanitarian Development, and who are enrolled in any of the nine PhD programmes at the University of Deusto listed below:
