    Internships

    Discover the social sector

    You will have the support of a tutor at the university and another at the internship centre:

    • Practicum I (12 ECTS): You will complete it in the second semester of the third year, giving you your first professional experience. You will have the chance to work at a centre or organisation where you will be in contact with professionals and services beneficiaries.
    • Practicum II (18 ECTS): You will do it in the first semester of your fourth year. It provides a full integration experience in a centre or organisation, within a specific area of professional intervention in social education.
    • 100% of students must complete the professional internship in the fourth year. It is one of the most important components of the curriculum. With a total of 24 ECTS across both semesters, you will gain deeper experience in the field of intervention.
    • Two personal tutors will guide your learning during this first direct contact with the professional world.

    It will take place in both semesters of 4th year. It involves a comprehensive experience of integration in a centre or entity, in a specific field of professional intervention in social education.

    You will participate in at least one regular socio-educational project or activity, allowing you to begin performing the basic functions of your professional profile, including:

    • Understanding the context and meaning of socio-educational work.
    • Building educational relationships with programme participants.
    • Communication and collaboration with professionals.
    • Planning and facilitating socio-educational activities.
    • Personal and professional self-awareness

    Here you will carry out a range of advanced functions and tasks, such as:

    • The theoretical foundation of socio-educational practice.
    • Enhancing the educational relationship as an ongoing process.
    • Coordinated work with professionals within teams.
    • Design, implementation, and evaluation of socio-educational processes.
    • Design and management of professional projects.

    The Faculty of Education and Sport hasover 50 internship centres, allowing you to choose based on your interests.

    CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

    The employment rate of Social Education graduates from the University of Deusto in the 2010 graduating class was 87.5%in December 2013 according to data provided by Lanbide (Basque Employment Service) and the Basque Government’s Employment and Social Affairs Department.

    The percentage has increased by more than 5% compared to the previous report (December 2011), when it was 82.4%.
