The University of Deusto and Viviendas de Vizcaya have renewed their collaboration agreement to support the Deusto Arrupe Scholarship Fund. This initiative aims to provide the financial support needed for high-achieving students who lack sufficient resources to pursue a degree at Deusto, covering 100% of their tuition fees.
Viviendas de Vizcaya is a business group founded in 1949, primarily dedicated to residential property development in Biscay. Its main objectives include supporting and funding social and welfare projects, with a special focus on housing accessibility and education. It was established in response to the difficult socioeconomic situation of the time and the urgent need for infrastructure and housing in the region.
The signing ceremony was attended by Juan José Etxeberria, Rector of the University of Deusto, and Gonzalo Meseguer, Managing Director, on behalf of the University; and Óscar Landeta, Director of Viviendas de Vizcaya, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting talent and equal opportunities: "Our aim is to provide support to those who lack the financial means necessary to pursue their education." A gesture the rector sincerely appreciated.
The Deusto Arrupe Scholarship Fund was launched in the 2022-2023 academic year with the aim of facilitating access to university for people with great academic potential and economic difficulties. Thanks to the solidarity of members of the university community, alumni, companies and institutions such as Viviendas de Vizcaya, 76 students have already benefited from these grants. A further 25 students are expected to join the programme in the 2025-2026 academic year.
