Others
Bilbao 700 Foundation has joined the celebration of these two anniversaries, with the symbolic presentation of this cultural exchange show, following the tradition of the great street shows, and taking advantage of the contribution offered by the latest technologies. For this event, which will last about an hour, Bilbao 700 Foundation has some of the elements from the Beast collection, which was created last year by the multimedia artist Bob Wilson for the opening parade of Aichi Universal Exhibition in Japan, and which will be presented in Europe for the first time.
Bilbao, 'Door to the East'
'Bilbao, Door to the East' is made up of two common, but well-defined parts. Throughout the whole show, the public will be able to enjoy the live concert by the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, and the Bilbao Choral Association, conducted by Juanjo Mena. Most of the music interpreted during this concert will be by Puccini, a composer who set many of his works in the East.
The first part of 'Bilbao, Door to the East', called 'The creation of the world. Planetarium', is made up of different visual and sound effects, which will be reflected on the faade of the University of Deusto. During this first part, those present will be able to enjoy the images and planets displayed at night, at the same time as the animals designed by Bob Wilson for last year's Aichi Exhibition start emerging.
The second part will give way to the fireworks display. Fireworks will be launched from the main building of the University of Deusto. This pyrotechnic display has been created by the Italian artist Valerio Festi, a well-known and admired master by Bilbao's citizens, as he has already presented a number of displays in this city under Bilbao 700, such as La Fiesta Veneciana del ZORIONAK BILBAO, Los Planetas, by Holst or Los Reales Fuegos de Artificio in front of Bilbao's Town Hall.
Those present will have an excellent view and sound of the show from Abandoibarra Promenade, between the Guggenheim Museum and Deusto Bridge.
