The University of Deusto and BBVA have renewed their collaboration agreement for a further year, which includes support for projects in the field of ethics in the digital world and peace studies, as well as grants for undergraduate students in the humanities and social sciences and for doctoral researchers. This agreement, signed by BBVA's Northern Regional Director, Marta Alonso, and the Rector of the University of Deusto, Juan José Etxeberria, reaffirms the commitment of both institutions to the promotion of research, the transfer of knowledge with high added value to society and the university training of undergraduate students.
For Marta Alonso, "education, research and knowledge sharing have always been unquestionable priorities. At BBVA, together with the University of Deusto, we want to promote training opportunities and academic research for another year". For his part, Juan José Etxeberria highlights the need to continue sharing our university’s mission with institutions like BBVA, which, in his words, 'are essential for enabling us to carry out our work in service of people’s well-being, within a society that is increasingly supportive, more developed, and more committed to the progress of all its citizens’.
The aim of this collaboration is to continue with the work begun in recent years, an allocation earmarked for knowledge dissemination activities organised by DeustoForum, which positions the university as an international meeting place for issues and debates relevant to the social and political agenda. This endowment will also support the strengthening of scientific collaborations both within and beyond the University of Deusto, as well as participation in international university networks for research and knowledge transfer.
This agreement reinforces BBVA’s support for the Deusto Cities Lab Chair, an initiative focused on developing citizen participation projects, advising public institutions, and producing materials and reflections of interest to both the public and public administrations.
