As part of the Psikologia Kalean initiative, the Official College of Psychologists of Biscay (COP) held the award ceremony for its 2025 Psikologia Sariak Awards on 15 May. This year, the award in the ‘Individual’ category went to Esther Calvete. The professor and researcher, a pioneer in the study of child-to-parent violence and in the design of brief interventions to prevent aggression in adolescents, has been honoured for her outstanding academic and scientific career in the field of mental health.

These awards aim to publicly recognise the work of organisations, institutions, companies or individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to psychology as a driver of social transformation. The award, presented in the form of a personalised sculpture, also includes, in addition to the “Individual” category, a second category for an “Organisation, Institution or Company”, which on this occasion was awarded to Gizakia for its work in promoting community well-being and psychosocial support.

The work of Esther Calvete, Professor at the University of Deusto and Director of the Deusto Stress Research group, has made a decisive contribution to advancing knowledge on violence, resilience and psychological problems, combining high-impact research with a clear focus on intervention and prevention.
