The first of these seminars was held last 16 February, and it opened with a lecture from Luis Colorado, head of the Data Mining department at 'La Caixa', who spoke to those present about direct marketing. These talks will be regularly held throughout the academic year, and they will focus on issues providing a practical approach to the latest marketing trends.

The signed agreement results from the interest shown by these two institutions to bring the University closer to the corporate reality, bearing in mind the role played by the former in this regard. The aim of these two entities is to actively contribute to training future professionals, and to provide them with a more direct and real approach to the business world. This is carried out through the incorporation of 'La Caixa' into the classroom and the contribution of professionals from the abovementioned financial institution to the different subjects taught.

Another action line will be to carry out collaborative projects designed to enhance the research value of both companies and the University, thus benefiting from the University?s research capacity. Finally, the signatories of this agreement commit themselves to examine and develop other potential areas of collaboration of a different nature, in which professionals from both entities can develop their knowledge and provide added value.

'La Caixa' carries out a wide range of programmes targeted at all students in Spain. Thus, this entity awards annual grants to undertake graduate studies both at Spanish universities and abroad, as well as other types of collaboration to train journalists through an agreement with EFE news Agency. The 'EmprendedorXXI' website is another area that has been set in motion by this financial institution to support those students who have a business project.
