On 22 April, the Institute hosted the launch of issues 115 and 116 of the Cuadernos Deusto de Derechos Humanos series. The event focused on academic research and the protection of rights in the prison context, specifically analysing the situation of women prisoners in the Basque Country in light of the Bangkok Rules.
The session featured a panel of leading experts:
• Carmen Meneses Falcón (Comillas Pontifical University): She presented the academic perspective and the findings of her recent research.
• Libertad Francés Lecumberri and Alicia Alonso Merino (ASDEPRES Gender Committee): They addressed current legal challenges from a gender-based and social intervention perspective.
The event was moderated by Encarnación La Spina, editor of the series, who highlighted the relevance of this work for the Institute’s current catalogue.
