The Conference on Science and Gender was organised on 4 and 5 March 2019 with the objective of analysing from a gender perspective the different aspects of teaching, research and science communication and dissemination. Participants have discussed the value of the work of many women in science and technology throughout history, as well as the stereotypes about men and women role in the scientific area. The problem of gender violence through ICT was also addressed as a relevant aspect in the academic environment.

Lorena Fernández, member of DEUSTO Gender Interdisciplinary Research Platform, spoke about "the glass corridors": the conditions that prevent girls from opting for certain science and technology careers under the false premise of freedom of choice.
