On Thursday 26 March, Deusto hosted its annual university theatre showcase at its Ceremonial Hall, which featured the premiere of a new adaptation of the brilliant play by Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere’s Fan. The play was performed by students from the university theatre group Trikiñuela, based at the Bilbao campus, under the direction of actress and lecturer Raquel Olmos.
Set in Victorian London high society, the author presented, in this witty comedy, a society eager for scandals to give meaning to their lives.
Spring theatre on both campuses
After the return from Easter holidays, the San Sebastian campus will premiere a new version of the adaptation of The Three Graces of the House Opposite by Eric Schneider, directed by actor and lecturer Peio Arnáez. The play is set in an atmosphere shaped by the pasts of the three protagonists in this family story.
In May, the student group that began their dramatic arts training this academic year will present the university adaptation Usted tiene ojos de mujer fatal by the witty playwright Jardiel Poncela. A contemporary staging that will also be directed by Raquel Olmos.
Once the stage adaptations have premiered on both campuses, the students will take part in the 37th edition of the Young Theatre Showcase, organised by the Youth Department of the San Sebastian City Council in various cultural venues across the city.
