In the subject entitled ”Organisational Design” taught on the Master's programme in European and International Business Management, we continue striving to get a closer look at organisations and first-hand knowledge of how they work. On Tuesday, 31 October, we had the privilege of a visit from Gorabide, a non-profit association formed by families whose mission focuses on supporting people in Biscay with intellectual disabilities. We shared this experience with Pablo González, manager of the association, Diana Cabezas, head of Family Intervention and Federico Gil, a member of the Goratu Programme.
Gorbaide is, without a doubt, an example of excellence in management, and has, for this reason, received the Golden A distinction from Euskalit. Pablo told us about three processes: strategic, operative and support, that form the process map that their multi-year strategic plan and management plan is based on. These plans are deployed and measured yearly. All of this is linked to a complex stakeholder structure.
Diana and Fede shared an example of empowerment that is promoted by Gorabide, the Goratu Programme. Ten persons with intellectual disabilities and two support practitioners who teach training and awareness-raising sessions on the realities of the intellectually disabled work on this programme. Fede spoke to us from the heart and told us what concerns and motivates him and what helps him to grow. Thanks to sessions like these, Goratu Programme members help to build a more inclusive world.
Pablo, Diana, Fede: Thank you for bringing a little part of Gorabide to our classroom!
