02 April 2007 OthersThe aim of this Specialisation course is to promote a learning process that may enable students to acquire the necessary knowledge and competences to carry out the functions that areusually performed by tourist information centre assistants. This course has been designed by the Institute of Leisure Studies at the University of Deusto, in collaboration with Tourist Information Offices, in response to the "lack" of professionals in this area of work. In this regard, the programme will provide students with information about the patterns of incoming tourism in the Basque Country, and it will show them how to recognise and interpret what the Basque Country has to offer from a tourism perspective, without forgetting the main aspects involved in the management of a Tourist Information Office or customer care techniques. This course is divided into two phases. On the one hand, the theoretical part will be held from 2 to 28 May at the University of Deusto; and on the other hand, practice placements will be held from 1 June to 31 August in Tourist Information Offices.
