The Uniservitate team from the University of Deusto, as a leading hub for Southern Europe, together with Pontificia Comillas University and IQS, will take part in the 6th Uniservitate World Symposium. Under the motto “Service-Learning in a Fragile World: Universities that Foster Peace and Hope”, the event will be held on 6 and 7 November in Germany.
The event, organised by the Latin American Centre for Service-Learning (CLAYSS) in collaboration with the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU), the Uniservitate regional hub for Central and Eastern Europe and the Middle East, will take place in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online activities. The programme will include simultaneous sessions, panel discussions, workshops, and presentations of significant Service-Learning (SL) experiences.
In addition, voices from different parts of the world will be heard across the various sessions, addressing resilience through service-learning, networked collaboration, the spiritual dimension from a humanist perspective, and the presentation of experiences inspired by the Global Education Pact.
In this edition, the symposium aims to be a space for reflection and action on the global challenges of our time — such as social fragmentation, polarisation, and armed conflicts — highlighting the transformative role of universities as active agents of peace and hope. In this perspective, educational experiences will be highlighted which, through SSA, work for an integral, human development committed to the common good.
The 6th Global Symposium is part of the international programme Uniservitate, promoted by Porticus and CLAYSS, which promotes the institutionalisation of Service-Learning in Catholic higher education institutions. This global network is structured around three main pillars: research, networking and curriculum integration of SSA.
