During the 2024–2025 academic year, 580 students from across all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the University of Deusto took part in the course “Generative AI: Effective and Responsible Use”, a pioneering programme covering the fundamentals, applications and ethical challenges of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI). The course, offered free of charge in a synchronous online format with sessions recorded for later viewing, provides a comprehensive overview of this technology across six 90-minute modules.
Following its excellent reception and the interest it generated, the University has made the course sessions and materials publicly accessible. The six videos are as follows:
- Fundamentals and technical foundations of GenAI and LLMs.
- How to converse with an LLM.
- Current functionalities of LLMs.
- LLMs and university learning.
- Other GenAI tools.
- The future of GenAI: ethical and legal aspects.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, the University of Deusto will once again offer the course to its students, reaffirming its commitment to ethical and responsible AI education. This initiative is part of the strategy promoted by Deusto’s Artificial Intelligence Committee, which aims to integrate AI across all areas of the University—teaching, research and management—from an ethical, human-centred and sustainable perspective.
Inspired by the principles of integrity, fairness and justice set out by UNESCO and the Declaration of Human Rights in the Digital Environment, the University of Deusto promotes the use of technology in the service of people, helping to foster an academic community aware of the impact and opportunities that AI creates in society.
