Cristianisme i Justícia, Alboan and the Loyola Centre of Bilbao are organising the 5th Faith and Justice Conference on 17 and 18 October, with the participation of the University of Deusto. This event, held for the first time in the city of Bilbao, aims to explore the new challenges in the dialogue between faith and justice, within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the 32nd General Congregation of the Society of Jesus and its Decree IV, which establishes justice as an intrinsic dimension of faith.
The conference will take place at Arrupe Etxea (c/ Padre Lojendio, 2) and will offer a varied programme that will include lectures, workshops and celebrations. The opening session, on Friday 17 at 19:00, will feature Jesuit José Ignacio García, Director of Cristianisme i Justícia. In his talk, he will discuss the approval of the “Fourth Decree” in 1975, a pivotal moment that marked a fundamental shift in the work of the Society of Jesus and, 50 years later, continues to guide its commitment to the most vulnerable and to social transformation. His lecture will pay tribute to those who have carried out this mission with dedication and serve as an invitation to renew its relevance today.
