On 7 July, the University of Deusto and Bankoa ABANCA held the award ceremony for the “Juan José Etxeberria Monteberria Grants,” presented to the students participating in the internship programme. This initiative, driven by both institutions, aims to support the growth of SMEs in new markets and facilitate the integration of young talent into these companies.

Thanks to this initiative, eight students from Deusto Business School degree programmes will receive a grant, funded by Bankoa ABANCA, to undertake internships at SMEs in the Basque Country, Navarre, and La Rioja that are pursuing expansion projects. This is the fourth edition of this programme, and the companies selected for this round are H2SITE Hidrogen On Site, BioTech Foods, Reiner, Erke Vehicle Equipment, DS4T Digital Solutions for Trade, Apliqa Strategic Consultancy and Satlantis.

In the three previous editions, the SMEs selected were Batela 1991, Couth Industrial Marking Systems, Ezarri, Ekilor Energías Renovables, Gobesa, Recircular Servicios Ambientales, Barakaldo Vet Shop, Weroi, Bizi Cycle Tours, Coycavi, Ibarmia, Linq case, Cimico, GoBasquing, Naru and Ostatu.

During the grant award ceremony, which took place at the Faculty Club on the University of Deusto’s Bilbao campus, the “Best Internship Student Award” was also presented to June Franco Rivadulla, from the BMA+ Digital Business Skills degree, and Aitor Vega Prieto, from the BMA + Digital Environment Management degree, both at Deusto Business School, on the San Sebastian and Bilbao campuses respectively.

The "Juan José Etxeberria Monteberria Bankoa ABANCA- Deusto Business School" internship programme has two direct beneficiaries. On the one hand, the person selected as the recipient of the grant through this programme and, on the other, the SME developing the growth project, which will receive support from this person during their internship, contributing to the company’s development. The grants are named after Juan José Etxeberria Monteberria, a prominent figure in the business, academic, and socio-cultural spheres of the Basque Country.
