25 Years of Human Rights Training for Indigenous Peoples: Reflections and the Indigenous Future

As part of the 18th session of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP), the Pedro Arrupe Human Rights Institute hosted a side event to celebrate 25 years of the Human Rights Training Programme for Indigenous Peoples (HRTPIP).


The event, titled “25 Years of the Human Rights Training Programme for Indigenous Peoples: Reflections and Future", was held on Wednesday, 16 July at 13:00 in Room XXII of the Palais des Nations, Geneva.


The commemorative event aimed to:

 

  • Showcase the programme’s history and the publication "Los derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas. Luchas por la descolonización" (The Rights of Indigenous Peoples: Struggles for Decolonization).
  • Share testimonies and highlight the impact of 25 years of training and Indigenous organisation in Latin America.
  • Reflect on the challenges and future directions of human rights education from the perspective of Indigenous peoples.
