These are some of the conclusions drawn from the latest publication by the Bankinter Foundation for Innovation, 'Web 2.0. Business Opportunities from Social Networks?, which were presented last 7 February at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, La Comercial, University of Deusto.This venuewas chosen to this purpose by this forum for being a landmark institution in the Basque Country.The presentation was given by Lecturer Michael Schrage, Center for Digital Business, MIT Sloan School.
This study has a triple aim: to examine the main implications that this new technology has both on society and education; to identify those industries that will be more affected by it; to study the current business models and new opportunities; and finally, to consider the adaptation of the new context to the legal framework so that the flow of knowledge is not slowed down and, at the same time, a participatory environment is promoted.
Definition and fields of impact of web 2.0.
Web 2.0. can be defined by three main principles: Community, users add content, they interact with other users and create knowledge networks; Technology:A wider bandwidth allows the transfer information at a speed unthought of before. Instead of software packages, it is possible to have web services, and each terminal can be both a client and server at the same time; Modular architecture:It promotes the creation of complex applications in a fast and cost-effective way.
