The 2020-2021 academic year of the Programme for Innovation in Cybersecurity (PIC) jointly taught by Deusto Business School and ICADE Business School, with the support of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), closed with a speech given by Rami Aboukhair, who until then held the position of Global Head of Cards and Digital Solutions at Banco Santander.
During his speech, the former executive of the entity chaired by Ana Botín, pointed out the importance of training, especially in a field that is increasingly present in all areas, such as digitalisation. Among the recommendations he wished to convey to the students, who were concluding their programme with this event, he highlighted the need to keep an open mind. He took the opportunity to link this recommendation with his personal and professional career and encouraged the attendees not to forget the values and more specifically to take care of the most precious ones: family, work and health.
The director of the PIC, Rafael Chelala, who acted as master of ceremonies, explained how over the six editions the programme has evolved as technology has evolved, from blockchain to the most recent impact of the metaverse or NFts, for example. "All of this without ever losing sight of the humanist vision," he said.
The humanist perspective was also addressed by the CEO of Deusto Business School, Almudena Eizaguirre. During her speech, she stressed the importance of the values of excellence, integrity and cooperation that permeate all the programmes taught at the University of Deusto Business School. "In them, importance is given to rigour and technical competence, but also with profound human quality and participants are urged to be honest and honest in their work and in their relations with others," he said.
The Director of ICADE Business School, José María Pérez Garrido, also spoke about the humanistic imprint that characterises the programmes offered by both Jesuit business schools and reminded the audience that cybersecurity training is something that affects large, small and medium-sized companies, as well as individuals.
Galo Montes, chief technology officer of Hewlett Packard Enterprise Spain, the programme's supporting organisation, spoke along the same lines. Montes encouraged participants to apply for European funds "because there is money for digitisation and start-ups can more easily apply for funds". However, he pointed out that it is not a question of handing out millions, but that it is essential that digitisation takes place in a way that adds value to society.
The programme's closing ceremony concluded with the presentation of the different projects developed by the students during the course. These were submitted to the criteria of the jury who, after deliberation, chose to highlight the Intelhire project. Presented by the students, Fernando Escobar, Víctor Gallego, María González and Jorge Laredo, it consists of an intelligent talent selection system using artificial intelligence and gamification.
