However, as Prof. Viaña pointed out, “It won’t all be a grind; there will be career opportunities as the oral defence is held at internationally prestigious law firms”.
“These meetings," continued Viaña "are a means of capturing new talent to work at these firms and a perfect occasion to select promising candidates for international arbitration". Prof Viaña will also take part as an arbitrator for other universities.
The UD Law Faculty team’s participation in the MOOT Madrid is a key part of its education policy to foster teaching and practice of international litigation and the new conflict resolution methods used in International Law.
The participants in the MOOT Madrid 2015 come from universities on every continent, confirming this competition as one of the top three worldwide for commercial arbitration training and second only to the MOOT Vienna in Europe. According to Viaña, "the University of Deusto plans to take part in the next editions of the competition in Vienna”.
