As part of the collaboration agreement between the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto, through the Pedro Arrupe Human Rights Institute and the Egoaizia Association, two lecturers from the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in International Humanitarian Action (NOHA), Professor Cristina Churruca Muguruza, Director of the Master’s Programme, and Professor Luis Enrique Eguren Fernández, have contributed to the launch of the first Certificate in Introduction to Humanitarian Response offered by the newly established Centre for Humanitarian Studies at Mekelle University (Ethiopia).
The course ran from 26 October to 8 November and brought together 27 professionals from local and international humanitarian organisations operating in the Tigray region.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in academic and humanitarian cooperation between European and African institutions, strengthening the commitment of the Pedro Arrupe Institute and the NOHA programme to education and capacity-building in contexts of humanitarian crisis.
