The opening ceremony was held on Wednesday, 21 March, and was attended by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Language Policy at the University of Deusto, Rosa Miren Pagola, and the Director of DeustuLan, Arantza Echaniz. Others participants included: Julio Artetxe, Regional Deputy for Employment and Training, Regional Council of Bizkaia; Ricardo Barkala, Town Councillor for Employment and Economic Promotion, Bilbao Town Council, and Chairman of Lan Ekintza; Marina Bidasoro Arocena, Managing Director of EGAILAN; Jon Mancisidor, Deputy General Manager of BBK GazteLanbidean; Oscar Alegría, Northern Area Manager of Telefónica Móviles; Nuria Fresco, Human Resource Manager of Indra Group.
Once the fair stands were opened to the public, students had the opportunity to submit their CVs, meet recruiters or just learn first-hand about the type of professional profiles that are required in these organisations. In addition, they could take part in a wide range of scheduled activities, such as company presentations and talks on issues related to the local labour market.
The idea to create this Career Forum arose two years ago, and it has become an effective way to promote labour insertion, since many of the contacts made during this fair have led directly to job offers. In fact, most companies have attended this fair at Deusto every year since then.
