Literary, painting and photography competitions for university students

One more year, the University of Deusto, through Gaurgiro, has organised its traditional literary, painting and photography competitions open to all students at any UD university centre and staff. As for the 13th Literary Competition, which is also organised by Gurya, it welcomes poems and short stories both in Spanish and in Basque. The theme is open. Short stories must not exceed 15 pages in length, and poems must be between 30-10 lines. All entries must be submitted by 4 April 2008. There will be a first prize of 400 eurosand a second prize of200 eurosin each of the four categories.

Bilbao Campus

This year, the Pedro Arrupe painting and photography competitions have a single theme: ?Mother Earth, Sustainable Life?. Works must be submitted by 28 March.The 10th Painting competition welcomes any form of expression including oil and pastel paintings, watercolours, acrylics or mixed techniques. The minimum size per entry must be 36x48 cm, and maximum size of 31x41. As for the prizes, there will be a first prize of ? 400 and a second of ? 250. With regard to the 11th Photography competition, it welcomes both black and white and colour photographs. Prints should be a minimum size of 18x24 cm, and a maximum size of 31x41 cm. There will be two first prizes of ? 400 each, one in the colour category and another in the black and white category, and a second prize of ? 200.
