Researchers Aitor Goti and Tugce Akyazi, from the Faculty of Engineering, have been invited to take part in the project "Learning outcomes of qualifications to ESCO skills", led by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion. The purpose of the project is to link educational qualification results to the ESCO (European Occupations Database) classification using artificial intelligence, which allows for a semi-automatic adaptation of European job profile definitions.
ESCO is the multilingual classification system for European skills, competences, qualifications and occupations. ESCO identifies and classifies occupations, skills, and qualifications relevant for the EU labour market and education and training. The semi-automated adaptation of the job profiles to be developed by the project will allow for a quicker and more appropriate definition of the skills and knowledge required, which will better respond to the increasingly changing world we live in.
The University of Deusto is the tenth European actor to take part in this initiative and the first at state level. Thus, the participation of these two researchers in this area is yet a further recognition to those already achieved by participating in half a dozen other transnational projects or having won the UD-Santander Research Award with Scientific and Social Impact 2021.
