Prof, Javier Viaña, lecturer in Private International Law and PhD in Law, was invited by the International Chamber of Commerce to speak on the new Mediation and Arbitration Regulations in Panama on 4, 5, and 6 August.

The International Chamber of Commerce, a leading world organisation on international legal and economic affairs, invited only two Spanish legal experts to this meeting: Prof. Javier Viaña and the international arbitrator and attorney, Bernardo María Cremades Sanz Pastor.

Together with other internationally renowned legal experts, they analysed the implementation of international mediation and arbitration regulations. The event took place in Old Panama City (a World Heritage Site).

At the event, Viaña presented his new book, “An Introduction to Spanish Law”, on the fundamentals of the Spanish legal system for students and readers who have no previous knowledge of Spanish law.

The English version will provide Erasmus students and other non-Spanish speakers with an easy-to-understand first view of Spain's current legal system.
