The University of Deusto and the Elecnor Foundation have renewed their collaboration agreement to launch the Elecnor Foundation – Deusto Business School Sustainability , an educational initiative that will enable around 400 first-year Business Administration students across the Bilbao and San Sebastian campuses to gain practical skills in sustainability and business ethics.

The new agreement strengthens and expands their shared commitment to the practical training of new generations. The signing ceremony was attended by the University of Deusto’s Rector, Juan José Etxeberria Sagastume, and the President of the Elecnor Foundation, Fernando Azaola Arteche. Other attendees included the Vice-Rector for Institutional Relations, María José Aranguren; the Director General of Deusto Business School Executive Education, Almudena Eizaguirre; and the Director of Elecnor Foundation, Jorge Ballester.

The Sustainability Programme will run in 2026 as part of the “Business and Sustainability” module. At the heart of the initiative will be a gamified competition, in which students work in teams using a business simulator, The Triple Connection, challenging them to manage a fictitious chocolate milkshake company with social, environmental and economic impact.

Students will be required to make complex decisions across the three key pillars of sustainability: People, Planet and Prosperity. This approach reinforces learning through a practical, modern and innovative experience, introducing key sustainability concepts with significant impact on awareness from the first semester.

A history of uninterrupted collaboration

The collaboration between the Elecnor Foundation and the University of Deusto began in 2011 and has continued uninterrupted since then. It started shortly after the Elecnor Foundation was established in 2008, as part of the 50th anniversary of the Elecnor Group, and has since led to various joint initiatives in the Foundation’s strategic area of Education and Research.

The new agreement builds on this long-standing relationship, strengthening the commitment to develop talent and promote responsible business practices. For the Elecnor Foundation, sustainability is a core pillar of its mission to contribute to societal progress and its commitment to the future of new generations. The Foundation is guided by principles such as sustainability, cooperation and environmental protection.

The Elecnor Foundation firmly believes that the work carried out by companies and their projects should not be limited to the pursuit of economic profit alone, but should apply sustainability criteria to ensure greater social, environmental and economic value over the long term.
