Others
In addition, this year's programme, which is running for the fourth consecutive year, will include some workers from Bilbao's Town Council among its students. The Council has invested in training for the prevention and treatment of mistreatment suffered by women. More specifically, Bilbao's Council will provide full funding for two local police officers and a social worker to pursue this MA. It will also cover the costs of two individual modules for two local police officers and three social workers.
The MA/Expert Diploma in Intervention in Cases of Violence against women started in 2003, and it seeks to encompass three main pillars: on the one hand, the gender approach learning to be able to interpret reality from another viewpoint, one that does not forget women in their apprehension; on the other hand, the teaching of all the judicial framework that provides assistance to those women who have suffered mistreatment; and finally, the transference of a number of techniques and methods for the prevention and psychological assistance of both victims of mistreatment and offenders. This MA includes practical training in different centres providing social assistance, psychological attention, legal advice, police stations, etc.
