After joining the Spanish Network of Healthy Universities in 2013, the University of Deusto has joined the Ibero-American Network of Health Promoting Universities (RIUPS), a network dedicated to health promotion through the organisation and development of proposals, programmes, projects and other awareness raising actions. Joining RIUPS is a further step in Deusto's work to integrate health and well-being into University life.
RIUPS has carried out important initiatives in Universities in the last years. These include specialised vocational training, research activities, publications, organisation of events, the integration of the Collaborating Centres of the World Health Organization (WHO) and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Universities or the creation of chairs for the promotion of health, among others.
The Health Promoting Universities Movement emerged in 2007 in Latin America with an Ibero-American focus and has so far proven to be a very good
initiative to strengthen health.
